HAPPY NEW YEAR
90cm x 120cm Plot
Transcribed conversation at the «Valens Rehabilitation Clinic».
P: Patient, approx. 70 years old, male voice.
T: Therapist, approx. 40 years old, female voice.
P now I‘m not so sure... am I in the right position here?
T yes, now I‘ll come to you
T What seems strange to you?
P yes, I had a pelvic fracture
T yes
P now I have to learn to walk again
T yes
P and I think... what can I say?
Another patient: knitting doesn‘t help? hahahaha
T hahahaha
P yes it doesn‘t help that much....
T from experience, we have a holistic approach here in rehab. That means on the one hand it is very important that we actively get the muscles and the musculoskeletal system going again and on the other hand it is also the case that we need time where the whole thing can take effect, where we can rest and where we can come back to ourselves a bit and do something for ourselves. What we call a hobby in everyday life or a passion that we can pursue according to our own endurance and rhythm... exactly...
P yes... I don‘t know... haha... I don‘t imagine it like that
T yes they are not alone, we know that, such reactions we already know, right? But yes, none the less
P later I have rehab block
T yes exactly
P these are exercises too
T yes
P to learn to walk again
T exactly
P I am very aware of this need
T yes
P: that helps and
T they get that too
P I find that important
T yes exactly. as I said, this is the supplementary offer and we know why we offer it in the clinic, but of course we don‘t force anyone to do a therapy where the patient doesn‘t agree, right? that‘s quite clear, huh?
P yes i..
T if you‘d like, you should try it out, you can just be there, you can have a look at it, yes? and maybe something appeals to you in some way, ok? but maybe not. and then you can decide for yourself if you want to continue or if you don‘t want to continue, ok?
P so honestly
T yes always, please
P I don‘t see the point
T hm
P I didn‘t have a single session this morning. I‘m here.
T yes
P to really
T yes
P as soon as possible
T yes
P that again
T yes
P rehabilitate
T yes yes
P I have the feeling it‘s going a bit slowly in that respect, so I can‘t stand on my left leg
T yes
P although that is actually already
T yes
P a month ago
T yes yes
P and eh I know
T yes
P now really not
T do you rather feel you have too little of the other therapies?
P yes
T so that‘s it
P yes that is definitely the case
T that‘s actually it! I‘ll have a look at your therapy plan, ok? how many therapies you have, hm? because this therapy you have here now doesn‘t take anything else away, ok? it‘s always just supplementary, right?
P yes that is already clear
T hmm, I think it is rather the dog buried there that you have the feeling you have too little therapy in physiotherapy, agree?
P yes this morning for example the whole morning was happening nothing
T yes
P and now I‘ll start with what‘s going on with my problem, as I see it, anyway
T yes
P has not much in common
T well the plans are of course always very well coordinated, right?
P yes of course
T hmm
T yes maybe you discuss it again with the patient coach, right?, and if you have the feeling that you have too little of other therapies, you simply report it back again. Is that good?
P who is my eeeehhh....
T patient coach? Now I just have to look it up....
T hmm, ok, good! You have your rehab package this afternoon at 3 p.m., right?, huh?
P exactly
T and that‘s the activating one, so to speak, right?
P yes
T exactly and this is just supplementary, huh?
T and if you say you would like something else more or you don‘t want something in the prescription, then I pass it on like this.... right?, and pass it on to the patient coach, you can also discuss it with him again.
P yes I would actually like to have a conversation with the coach, so....
T Yes
